The first pipe can also be entered to find a secret area with a few extra coins, as well as a red Koopa Troopa whose shell can be used to clear away a row of Brick Blocks below, revealing another hidden area filled with Goombas, as well as a ? Block containing a Mega Mushroom.īack in the main area, Mario must traverse a few more obstacles in the level, including enemies and a seesaw, before entering a Warp Pipe to return to the surface, where the Goal Pole allows him to finish the level. A Hidden Block containing a Super Star can be found in this area. After a seesaw is the level's Checkpoint Flag. The second Star Coin appears just after this, surrounded with blocks that can be broken either by Ground Pounding or with a Koopa Troopa's shell. There is a long row of Brick Blocks overhead, one of which contains a 1-Up Mushroom. The first Star Coin can also be located nearby in an alcove.Īfter this are more enemies, including Koopa Troopas, as well as coins. Just after this, a Goomba appears, the first of many throughout the level. There are also additional coins that can be collected with more Ground Pounding. Right after this are two ? Blocks, one of which contains either a Super Mushroom or a Fire Flower, depending on Mario's current form. The level begins with Mario Ground Pounding into the cave, breaking a few Brick Blocks directly below him and collecting some coins.
